Nigeria gained independence in October 1, 1960 from British Colonial rule. Here in Hampton Roads, NITVA celebrates Nigeria's Independence every year usually on the first weekend of October. We have used these opportunities to showcase our culture, and to educate our children and the Hampton Roads .
